In order to avoid unnecessary car breakdown and to keep your car running properly, routine car maintenance is essential. But what exactly is routine maintenance? Below we’ll discuss what maintenance you should do to your vehicle based on the mileage.

  • Whenever You Drive Between 3,000 to 7,000 Miles

We advise that you change the oil and the oil filter of your vehicle once you drive between this range. This change should be done according to your manufacturer’s guide and schedule. Reason why we suggest this is because the oil is a lubricant and not replacing it can cause friction which can damage your engine. Also, it is advisable that you examine the transmission fluid frequently, not just this but also other important parts such as the wipers, tires, coolant etc.

  • Every 15,000 to 30,000 Miles

After covering a distance of 15,000 miles, it is advisable to change the air filter. Then, inspect the battery and coolant after covering a distance of 20,000 miles. Most 25,000-mile maintenance service entails the fuel filter change. Change the air filter and power steering fluid after 30,000 miles.

  • Every 35,000 to 50,000 Miles

Most 35,000 miles routine maintenance involves inspecting and replacing the battery. A 40,000-mile journey warrants you to replace the spark plugs and spark plug wires, and check out the ignition system and suspension.  It is necessary you go through these checks again at 45,000 miles and 50,000 miles.

  • Every 60,000 Miles

Change the brake pads, the brake fluid, coolant, radiator hoses, power steering fluid. It is also important that you examine the HVAC and tires.

Generally scrutinize all important parts of your vehicle such as the engine, transmission, cooling, tires, brakes and suspension parts frequently. Asides this maintenance schedule, refer to your owner’s manual to see what your manufacturer advises on the routine auto maintenance schedule based on engine mileage.
